Samsung just unveiled three new wearable devices, including the Gear Sport, Gear Fit2 Pro and Gear IconX to help with various activities including fitness tracking, nutrition monitoring, motivational coaching and sleep tracking.
The Gear Sport is a smartwatch that places focus on fitness and is water resistant, according to a recent release from the company. The Gear Fit2 Pro is an upgraded GPS band with smart features and the Gear IconX is a pair of second generation cord free earbuds.
“At Samsung, we celebrate the everyday athlete – whether you’re going for a light jog, or training for your next triathlon. We have a long history of embracing choice and innovation, and our wearables are designed to help consumers of varying fitness levels meet their goals and aspirations. We want to help remove the stigma that fit can only mean one thing and that fitness trackers are complex and for only the most intense of workouts,” said DJ Koh, President of Mobile Communications Business, Samsung Electronics. “Our new Samsung wearables help consumers ‘go beyond fitness’ and enjoy an active, balanced and fulfilled life in a smart and seamless way.”
Samsung produced new capabilities for the Gear Sport and Gear Fit2 Pro, including water resistance and swim tracking. With Speedo’s swimming training app, both wearables are now able to provide you with various swim metrics such as lap count and time, stroke type and more. The Gear Sport and Fit2 Pro now also boast advanced real-time heart rate monitoring.
Samsung has also partnered with various companies in order to provide the best overall experience for their clients when it comes to wearables. For example, the organization is working with Under Armour so Samsung customers can have access to fitness apps including the UA Record, MapMyRun and more.
The new devices also have automatic activity detection built in so users are able to stay in sync with their bodies along with personalized motivation so you can create your own wellness plan with special alerts and goals.
The Gear Sport was reportedly designed with military level durability and now features a “circular bezel, Super AMOLED 1.2-inch display and improved user interface, making it easy to view information – even on-the-go.”
The Gear Fit2 Pro boasts an ergonomic band along with a “super AMOLED curved 1.5-inch display and a high-resolution color touchscreen.”
The IconX cord-free earbuds allow you to listen to music with little effort and means you can enjoy your tunes on or offline after you’ve transferred music from a Samsung smartphone or PC. You can also use Bluetooth connectivity for access, according to the release. The updated ear buds come in black, gray and pink; and they’re reportedly more ergonomic and lighter.
The Gear Fit2 Pro is available for pre-order for $199.99 from Amazon, Best Buy, B&H, Macys and Samsung.com. If you pre-order the Gear Fit2 Pro, you’re eligible to get a free pair of Samsung U Flex wireless headphones at Samsungpromotions.com.
