Creator of the popular series Final Fantasy Hironobu Sakaguchi confirmed that his newest game will hit the shelves in 2017, according to DigitalTrends.com. Sakaguchi revealed the news this past week at the 4Gamer round-table discussion.
Sakaguchi also said that his studio, Mistwalker, is now partnered with Bravely Default developer Silicon Studio. This will provide the team with middleware and developer tools.
Sakaguchi was integral in creating several popular games in the ‘80s and ‘90s, including Super Mario RPG and Final Fantasy. Later, his studio produced two of Xbox 360’s most well-known games.
Since then, they’ve placed their focus on mobile devices and created Terra Battle two years ago. The free, tactical game has been downloaded more than 2 million times, according to DigitalTrends.com.
It remains unclear if the new game will be made for a mobile device or gaming system.
Sakaguchi once said he planned to create a less intense console version of Terra Battle, but the details remain undisclosed.
