Wahoo Fitness recently sent us a sample of the Tickr X, a heart rate sensor and workout motion activity monitor that aims to maximize your exercise time.
This isn’t just your typical wrist-based heart rate monitoring watch; it’s a wearable for your chest, which reportedly provides a more accurate reading. The Tickr X features advanced analytics along with Bluetooth Smart and ANT+ connectivity.
The device monitors your heart rate to gauge how hard you’re working while you exercise. It also provides stats on things like speed, distance, cadence, stride rate, and calories burned. Once you sync the device to the Wahoo Fitness app, choose the activity you plan to do. The app gives you various choices including running, treadmill, cycling, indoor bike training, or spin class.
It’s compatible with most smartphones, GPS watches and bike computers, according to the company. It also works with various applications, including the 7-minute workout app, which helps you move through exercises like jumping jacks, planks, wall sits, push ups, abdominal crunches and more. Plus, it can count reps for you just like a personal trainer would. It even tells you that you’re doing a “good job” when you’ve completed a set. However, if you’d like to workout without your phone and check out your stats at a later, that’s possible as well. The Tickr X has an onboard memory capable of holding 16 hours of workouts.
The device is sweat proof and waterproof in up to 5 feet of water. The strap is removeable and can be washed if necessary. It’s powered by a coin-cell battery that reportedly lasts for about a year. Want one? It’ll set you back about $80, just click here.
