New York-based audio company Master & Dynamic today announced their new MW50 On-Ear headphones – a compact and lighter weight design than their previously released their highly regarded flagship MW40 Over-the-Ear Headphones.
Founded in 2013 by Jonathan Levine (CEO) & Vicki Gross, Master & Dynamic is targeting the high-end audio headphone market.
According the the company, the new MW50 Headphones feature, “design elements, including a minimal industrial aesthetic, precision details, premium materials, and tactile components”. The MW50s combine stainless steel componentry with a machined all-aluminum antenna to create durability, and “best-in-class signal range”.
The MW50 Wireless On-Ear Headphones also accommodate multi-point connection, allowing connectivity to two devices at once for a smooth transition from phone to tablet or computer. The company claims 16 hours of battery life and the ability to direct connect with a woven audio cable when the juice runs out.
In keeping with the luxury positioning of the Master & Dynamic brand, the headphones offer a heavy grain cowhide leather headband and memory foam ear pads, which are wrapped in lambskin leather. On the technical front, these cans feature custom Bluetooth 4.1 with Aptx™, 40mm beryllium drivers and a dual microphone array that provides increased noise rejection and clear calling. They have a dynamic range of 5-30,000Hz and media toggling controls can found on the ear cups.
The MW50s are available in both silver/black and silver/brown colorways, and retail for $449.
