DJI Unveils Two New Drones

By Ashley Troutman @MissAshleyTv · On September 8, 2017

Drone maker DJI just unveiled two new drones, the Mavic Pro Platinum and Phantom 4 Pro Obsidian. The company also recently announced ‘Sphere’ mode for the Spark.

Mavic Pro Platinum

The improved DJI Mavic Pro Platinum boasts all of the advanced features of the Mavic Pro, according to a release, and it’s great for travelers, photographers and sports fans. This drone offers an 11 percent gain in flight time and 60 percent noise power reduction after new electronic speed controllers and newly designed propellers were installed.

It features a compact and strong body with a platinum shell and includes a portable camera drone with a 4K stabilized camera that has a 4.3-mile range and modern FlightAutonomy technology that is able to sense obstacles up to 49 feet away, the release said.

DJI Phantom 4 Pro Obsidian

The Phantom 4 Pro drone is for professionals who take aerial images and it comes in a matte-gray Obsidian color shell that boasts a magnesium, electroplated and anti-fingerprint coated gimbal, the release said.

The drone is ideal for those who are taking images and video for a commercial client or to document a wedding or other event. It has a one-inch CMOS sensor and a 4K 60fps recording capability.

DJI Spark

The Spark is a mini camera drone that can take off from the palm of your hand and is reportedly the first consumer drone that can be controlled with hand gestures. The company just announced Sphere mode in the Panorama photo feature, which means users can produce panoramic photos with a fisheye lens effect.

“This ‘Sphere’can then be shared directly to social media sites, some of which already support interactive images. The new feature will be included soon in the forthcoming DJI GO 4 mobile app and Spark firmware updates,” the release reported.

“DJI continuously look for ways to improve its products and introduce new features, many of which are the result of the positive feedback and requests we received from customers around the world,” Paul Pan, DJI senior product manager said in a release. “Starting with our Osmo Mobile Silver handheld stabilizer, DJI has been expanding its product variations to meet the different lifestyles and needs of consumers. Similarly, we’ve done the same with two of the most iconic DJI drone products, the Mavic Pro and Phantom 4 Pro. The Spark’s newly added ‘Sphere’mode will also introduce a new way for people to experience the fun of aerial photography.”
